The 89th Annual Academy Awards hosted by Jimmy Kimmel will be held this Sunday and broadcast live on ABC. All eyes will of course be on the red carpet and someone said something about little gold statue’s being handed out as well, lol!
It’s looking like a race to the finish for Best Picture between “La La Land”, “Moonlight” and “Hidden Figures”! Fun fact about each film… Naomie Harris shot her Oscar-nominated Moonlight performance in just three days! Hidden Figures star Taraji P. Henson said playing unsung hero mathematician Katherine Johnson meant being decked out in 1960’s fashion and that included the undergarments! She said, “That snatches you into a perfect stature. You have no choice,” Damien Chazelle’s spectacular opening number for “La La Land” was not planned as the opening number. He had planned to open with a simple car scene between Ryan Gosling’s and Emma Stone’s characters but was so pleased with the dance number with lots of cars shot on LA’s 105 and 110 freeways came out, he made the switch, and I think everyone agrees that was a fabulous decision!
Following the ceremony Viola, Ryan, Emma, Meryl and more will make their way to the Governor’s Ball. This year’s theme showcases a bit of whimsy titled “Magical Transformation”. The ballroom will be done in the colors of eye-popping red, gold and white. The stars will dine on delights from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck! The menu will feature many of Puck’s signature items including Lobster Corn Dogs, Moroccan Spiced Wagyu Short Ribs, Black Truffle Chicken Pot Pie and more! This year’s Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel said the first time he attended the Governor’s Ball was in 1995 and he snuck in and ended up at John Travolta’s table! Go Jimmy!!!
Tom Hanks is going to be an author! The Academy Award-winning actor’s first book, a collection of short stories will be released in October!
Oscar winner Angelina Jolie made her first public comments in a satellite interview from Cambodia about her family following her separation and impending divorce from actor Brad Pitt. Jolie said, “We are a family, and we will always be a family. And we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it.”
