What’s buzzing this week? Let Steve Kemble, US Weekly Fashion Police Top Cop, entertainment reporter for the CBS Radio Show – Afternoons with Leigh Ann & Courtney Kerr on KVIL 103.7 www.kvil.com and America’s Sassiest Lifestyle Guru, fill you in on the news everyone’s going to be talking about:
Female and even male (including her American Hustle co-star Bradley Cooper)actors are applauding a powerful essay written by Hollywood It-Girl Jennifer Lawrence. The piece on Hollywood’s gender pay gap titled, “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?” was published on Lena Dunham’s website Lenny Letter. Up until now JLaw says she never brought up the issue to studio executives because she did not want to be labeled a “spoiled brat”. She said once she thought about it more, she actually did not get mad at the studios, but was instead mad at herself for not bringing the issue to the forefront. After reading what she wrote her friend Emma Watson tweeted “O Jennifer Lawrence I love you so.”
Taylor Swift once again leads the pack on music nominations, this time for the American Music Awards. Swift received six nods, and is followed by Ed Sheeran and the Weekend who each received five. The awards show hosted by Jennifer Lopez (who will also perform a few numbers from her new Vegas show which opens on January 20, 2016) will be held in Los Angeles on November 22.
Mark Your Calendars, this ought to be good! Donald Trump will host Saturday Night Live on November 7. Last time he appeared on the show was in 2004, when the show ‘The Apprentice’ hit the airwaves. In other Trump news, I reported earlier that he was sent a Cease and Desist letter from Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler requesting he stop playing ‘Dream On’ (which Tyler fully owns as the sole writer of the song) at his campaign events. Trump said he paid for the rights to play the song, but out of respect for his friend Steven Tyler he will stop playing it. He stated, “I guess I will move on, instead of ‘Dream On’ “. I want to know more…it’s very rare for Trump to back down to anyone…spill what you have on him Steven! It’s gotta be good!
Nashville star Hayden Panettiere has voluntarily checked herself into a treatment center to seek help for Postpartum Depression. She revealed last month on Kelly & Michael that she has been struggling with depression ever since her daughter Kaya was born in December. Ironically her character on Nashville portrays a new mother with this exact condition. She has asked that everyone please respect her privacy during this time. I certainly wish her all the best and a very speedy recovery!
